Why should I use Philly Nanny?
Philly Nanny specializes in bringing together local nannies and families. Plus, it's free! more information
Is it really free?
We are still in "beta" testing, so this site is currently being supported by advertisements. Philly Nanny is a public service, brought on by the fact that when we were searching for a nanny in the area, we found the process to be entirely too difficult and time consuming. With your help and feedback, we can change all that!
How does the process work?
Philly Nanny is meant to be a simple and user-friendly web site. Read our page on How Philly Nanny works.
Who are you?
This site was made by the Sodani and Klimpacher families. Read all about us.
Are you going to sell my email address and personal information?
Never. Ever. We want to be very clear on this point: we will NEVER share your information with any third parties or attempt to make money off of it. We find that business practice to be reprehensible, especially since we ourselves get plenty of spam in our inboxes and were once the victim of identity theft. Your information will only be shared with nannies and/or families, and ONLY with your permission. Read our privacy policy.
Are the listings kept up-to-date?
If a family or nanny doesn't login to Philly Nanny for 4 consecutive weeks, we will send out a notice asking if they are still actively looking for a nanny or family (as the case may be). After 6 weeks of inactivity, the listing is automatically removed, so that you can be sure you are not wasting your time on ancient listings.
I don't live in the Philadelphia metro area - do you have other websites that cater to nearby cities?
Absolutely! Check out our sister sites, Baltimore Nanny and New Jersey Nanny. For a complete list of the nanny matching sites we've founded, visit our company site.
How do I setup an appointment with a nanny or family?
Philly Nanny is like a dating site. We provide a venue for you to meet your perfect nanny/family. You can choose to contact someone via the site, and some nannies/families will release their phone number or email address to interested parties. Meeting and interviewing are left up to you to proceed with as you would like.
How do I block a nanny or family?
When viewing a list of nannies/families, you can choose to block any one of them by clicking on "Remove from consideration." This will ensure that that particular nanny/family will no longer show up in searches or on your match list. You can revisit these nannies/families by clicking on "Nannies/Families Removed from Consideration" in the right-side menu.
How do I "bookmark" a nanny or family I like?
Your "bookmarks" (or "favorites") are kept in what we call an "interest list". When viewing a list of nannies/families, you can choose to bookmark them by clicking on "Add to interest list." You can review your interest list at any time by clicking on "View your Interest List" in the right-side menu.
How do I post a nanny share?
If you have a nanny that you would like to share, simply choose that option when creating your account. We do not currently have the ability to find other families with which to share a nanny if you do not already have a nanny in mind.
What if I don't get any "matches"?
If no families/nannies match up well with you, don't fret. First, try changing some of the answers in your "interview" to less restrictive responses. Also, try changing the start date. This may boost the number of matches. If all fails, you can manually browse through all of our listings.
How do I remove my account?
If you would like to delete your account, simply choose the option for "Remove my listing" in the menu. Your listing will be deleted, and you will not receive any more emails from Philly Nanny.
What's the karma/feedback system?
Unfortunately, sometimes bad apples get into the mix. We've had reports of nannies not returning phone calls and emails. When this happens, a parent registered with the site can leave feedback for the nanny, effectively warning other parents on the system to stay away.
However, sometimes a nanny has an excellent interview and seems like a perfect fit, except their schedules don't mesh, or the required salary is too high. In these cases, a parent registered with the site can leave positive feedback, effectively recommending this nanny to other parents on the site.
